New year’s dinner at Trevalco
février 13, 2023Setting your own career priorities
septembre 4, 2023Our colleague Elke talks about what it’s like to work for Trevalco as a consultant specializing in Quality Assurance (QA).
What are your main duties as a consultant in QA?
« QA » within the pharmaceutical industry is a very broad concept, in the team at the customer we are mainly concerned with following up projects. This can involve modifications to existing production lines/rooms/processes as well as the installation of a completely new line, whether in a new building or not. For that entire spectrum of changes, we track quality critical documentation so that everything is and remains correctly validated. In addition, we also always check whether these changes have an impact on registration files and follow up on any impact.
This ensures the quality of the product and the safety of the patient. What I like most is that we come into contact with a lot of departments: from production over engineering and building to cleaning or sterilization validation, so I can learn about a lot of areas.
Can you perform this job in hybrid working?
The client where I am currently on project is very flexible regarding hybrid working. We are expected on the production site 1 to 3 days a week. For my duties per se, this is usually not necessary, since we can review and track all but a few documents digitally. Because it is nice to be able to spar with colleagues about the more challenging projects and also to maintain good contacts with the different departments, I usually go to the site 2 days a week.
What capabilities should someone who wants to work in QA definitely have?
Within QA we monitor the quality of the delivered products, so it is very important that you can deal with the many established procedures and have a great sense of responsibility. You will have to help ensure compliance with various procedures. It certainly helps if you have a diplomatic disposition, if you communicate fluently and clearly and if you also dare to be a bit pragmatic at the appropriate times.
Why did you choose to start at Trevalco as a consultant; surely you had other options?
Trevalco’s approach is very personal, from the first job interviews it is clear that you are not just another applicant (or new employee). You are really listened to, looked for a project that suits you, and once started, you are still regularly followed up and well supported. In addition, I am a big fan of open communication, and there is absolutely that with Joachim and Tim, and in both directions.
